We have continued to enjoy our topic of frozen kingdoms and have found many opportunities to develop our knowledge in this area.
In English, we have written letters between one pole and another. We took a close look into the life of an indigenous group living in a remote part of Northern Russia (Nenets). We watched a fascinating video which documented a day in their life and which revealed the kinds of food they eat and what they do during their leisure time. Alongside this, we researched what life is like for scientists who spend extended periods living in Antarctica. We used all this information to create imaginary pen-pals who wrote to each other from across the globe. We have looked at the different resources that can be found in the Arctic and discussed the dramatic consequences of climate change in the region.
During STEAM week we created dioramas which focused on different types of renewable energy. We used the knowledge we have been developing in science to attach circuits to our dioramas to indicate how renewable energy can help us create electricity in the future.
